WASHINGTON (Reuters) - representative Fred Upton has been chosen by a Republican organize Panel Tuesday to become the next President of the energy of the House of representatives and Trade Commission, considered one of the panels more power in the Congress of the United States.
Pending the approval of the House full Republican Conference Wednesday, Upton of Michigan would head the influential panel monitoring of energy policy, as well as healthcare and telecommunications.
Upton will replace democratic Chairman Henry Waxman when Republicans took control of the Board in January of President Barack Obama Democrats.
Shortly after its victory over the former Committee Chair Joe Barton, Upton said in a statement: "the administration of the Obama is on notice - they will not be able to regulate that they were unable to legislate.
That comment was likely aimed at the environmental protection agency in January could move forward with the new regulations requiring manufacturers to reduce their emissions of carbon dioxide pollution.
There are already bills pending in Congress to stop EPA rules before they take effect.
